SUMMARY:The Power of the Parent-Teacher Relationship
DESCRIPTION:Online\, On-Demand Workshop \n\n\n\nBoth parents and teachers play a vital role in educating a child. Parents are children’s first teacher as they teach children essential life and academic skills while providing love and support. The connection and communication between teachers and parents become very important in any school setting\, including early education settings. \n\n\n\nYoung children are very attuned with their parents\, teachers and caregivers and read their cues well. So\, when their teacher and parents are connected and have a positive and strong relationship\, children are more likely to feel safe in their relationships with their teachers and have more positive attitude towards their teacher\, center or school\, and learning. Effective communication is essential for building school-family partnerships. It constitutes the foundation for all other forms of family involvement in education. \n\n\n\nJoin us for this 30-minute online training to explore the benefits of building parent-teacher relationship\, as well as different ways of communicating with parents.  \n\n\n\nThis training is designed for parents\, caregivers\, teachers\, and school personnel.  \n\n\n\nIn this training\, you will learn about: \n\n\n\n\nBenefits of building parent-teacher relationship\n\n\n\nDifferent ways of communicating with parents\n\n\n\nTechniques and strategies to communicate more effectively with parents to build strong relationships with them\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nATTENTION: Palm Beach County parents\, teachers\, and caregivers: Use the CODE: AWOPBC to waive the fee! \n\n\n\nA special thank you to the Florida Blue Foundation\, Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County\, and Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County for supporting this training for teachers\, and educators in Palm Beach County. SUMMARY:Promoting Engagement for Withdrawn Children
DESCRIPTION:Online\, On-Demand Workshop \n\n\n\nThe child within the home or classroom that is often noticed first or identified for needing extra help and support is the outgoing\, loud\, active\, intense\, and aggressive child. \n\n\n\nThese are children whose behaviors show their wants\, needs\, and emotional states – and it’s often easy to identify and intervene as needed. Children who are quieter or more subdued in social settings are typically more unassuming\, cautious\, and careful. They are the ones who are sometimes overlooked as needing extra help or support. They tend to follow rules and cause less disruptions. \n\n\n\nAdults and teachers often perceive them as anxious\, frightened\, or quiet and reserved. They are less inclined to initiate interaction or take command of a situation\, however this way of being also has incredible benefits and potential. \n\n\n\nJoin us for this important training to explore engagement with the withdrawn child as well as tips and techniques to ensure that the interactions are positive and beneficial. \n\n\n\nThis training is designed for parents\, caregivers\, teachers\, and school personnel.  \n\n\n\nIn this training\, you will learn about: \n\n\n\n\nContributing reasons for withdrawn behaviors\n\n\n\nPotential concerns/challenges and warning signs when a child is withdrawn\n\n\n\nTips and techniques to encourage engagement\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nATTENTION: Palm Beach County parents\, teachers\, and caregivers: Use the CODE: AWOPBC to waive the fee! \n\n\n\nA special thank you to the Florida Blue Foundation\, Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County\, and Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County for supporting this training for teachers\, and educators in Palm Beach County. SUMMARY:Healing the Healers: Creating Happy\, Healthy Healers and a Happy\, Healthy Workforce
DESCRIPTION:Virtual\, On-Demand Workshop \n\n\n\nFeeling stressed? … Burnt-out? … Overworked? \n\n\n\nThere is a saying: “You can’t pour from an empty cup…” If you consider yourself a healer or helper and you constantly GIVE – now it is your time to TAKE! Refill your cup now. \n\n\n\n We care about you! \n\n\n\nThis 4-hour training is designed to address the stress and various challenges faced by helpers and healers in the medical\, mental\, and behavioral health professions. The training teaches self-care and resilience building strategies\, particularly important as helpers and healers during the COVID-19 crisis showed alarming rates of anxiety\, depression\, PTSD\, and even suicide. Unfortunately\, the impact is expected to worsen once the crisis is over as an aftermath of collective trauma. \n\n\n\nBurnout is defined as a long-term reaction to occupational stress which involves\, particularly\, the helping professions. The burnout epidemic is detrimental to client care and may exacerbate the mental health professionals shortage we are experiencing. Burnout can be caused by secondary trauma\, compassion fatigue\, stress or moral injury. According to several studies\, it appears that up to 67% of mental health workers may be experiencing high levels of burnout\, with the significant impact of COVID yet to be determined. \n\n\n\nThe pandemic has impacted mental health on a broad scale. Leading mental health researchers and professionals anticipated an ‘echo pandemic’ after the physical pandemic passed\, and we are seeing increased incidences of depression\, anxiety\, and suicide\, escalating the demand for healers and helpers who are supported and mentally healthy themselves to serve our communities . \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives Include: \n\n\n\n\nDefining the Role of a Healer/ Helper\n\n\n\nTypes and Causes of Stress\n\n\n\nBiology and Physiology of Stress\n\n\n\nExploring ACEs & Their Relationship to Stress and Well-Being\n\n\n\nImpacts of Stress\n\nBurnout\n\n\n\nVicarious Trauma\n\n\n\nCompassion Fatigue\n\n\n\nChallenges Faced by Specific Groups of Helpers/Healers\n\n\n\n\n\nCOVID-19 and the Impact on Helpers/Healers\n\n\n\nSelf-Care & Resilience Building\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCenter for Child Counseling is approved through the Florida Board of Licensed Clinical Social Workers\, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists\, and Licensed Mental Health Providers #50-11511.

SUMMARY:ACEs\, Trauma\, and Toxic Stress
DESCRIPTION:Online\, On-Demand Workshop \n\n\n\nToxic Stress and Becoming Trauma-Informed \n\n\n\nIn the absence of protective relationships\, toxic stress in childhood impacts an individual’s well-being across the lifetime. The ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Study\, one of the largest studies conducted to assess the association between childhood maltreatment\, later-life health and well-being\, is highlighted.  \n\n\n\nThis workshop provides an overview of the ACE study\, Trauma\, Toxic Stress and the impact on health. SUMMARY:Feelings & Coping Curriculum
DESCRIPTION:Online\, On-Demand Workshop \n\n\n\nA FREE ‘Caregiver + Kid’ Workshop \n\n\n\nThis online training is designed to help teachers\, parents\, and caregivers of children aged 0 – 8. You should plan to attend along with your child. \n\n\n\nChildren deal with many of the same feelings as adults. However\, young children usually don’t have the vocabulary to describe or talk about their feelings. \n\n\n\nThe ability to cope is not something we’re born with. Coping involves a set of emotional and practical skills our children learn through both observation and direct teaching. Without healthy coping skills\, children are likely to “act out”. Children who don’t know how to deal with their feelings are also more likely to turn to unhealthy coping strategies as they grow older. A child who learns how to cope when young will gain strength and confidence as he/she matures.  \n\n\n\nThis Online Workshop consists of 6 Lessons. Each lesson is +/-15 minutes.  \n\n\n\nYour child will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nIdentify and talk about feeling\n\n\n\nCommunicate effectively about feelings without using negative behaviors\n\n\n\nDevelop and practice coping skills

SUMMARY:Prescriptive Play Therapy for Attachment Wounds
DESCRIPTION:Play therapists are often at loss when treating attachment wounds. We will take a prescriptive approach to play therapy treatment of attachment wounds\, using neurosequential thinking and play therapy techniques and attachment-focused modalities to support gradual change.  Our goal will be for clinicians to increase the intentional use of the self in these encounters with children (and their caregivers). \n\n\n\nWe will also focus on developing an in-depth case formulation and treatment plan and apply Child-Centered\, Gestalt and other play therapy approaches within a prescriptive framework based on the current literature on polyvagal theory\, developmental trauma and attachment and discuss the complications therapists may encounter in using trauma approaches to heal “attachment trauma”. Inviting the family/caregivers into these attachment focused play therapy activities will increase their ability to mentalize for the child and allow for improved relationships at home\, school and in the community.
